1889 – 2009, Lanvin is celebrating its 120th anniversary this year. For the occasion the mythic perfume from the brand, Arpège, is being released in limited edition.
The history in brief: in 1889 a young fashion designer, just beginning, curious and inspired – Jeanne Lanvin – founded what would go on to become one of the most elegant fashion houses in Paris. A visionary, she created a world which took in fashion, perfumes and décor.
120 years later another passionate designer is in control of the house. Alber Elbaz, a sincere, intuitive and sparkling man has succeeded in restoring Lanvin to its previous noble heights.
For an exceptional date there is now planned an exceptional event. With a touch of humour and a lot of delicacy, Alber Elbaz has chosen to mark the moment by highlighting mothers and their daughters. From October, the perfume Arpège will be covered in images of Lanvin couture and each box will have a sketch by Alber Elbaz on it. These real fashion sketches place Jeanne and her daughter Marguerite in modern day Paris. Inside the packaging, the classic Arpège ball remains unchanged, staying faithful to its black flask.

Though top-end French label Lanvin rhymes with luxury, house designer Alber Elbaz takes his inspiration from real people in the street -- not celebs. 
French fashion house Lanvin has found a minority investor to take a 12.5 percent stake, after a lengthy search for a financial partner to help it develop, the company said. 
Style-setters Dior and Lanvin broke new ground for men at Paris Fashion Week on Sunday 28 June, offering a looser look aimed at liberating men from strict dress codes and fashion uniforms. 
Stella McCartney, one of the only luxury fashion houses that does not use animal furs and leather, has poached the business development director of Lanvin to lead the British fashion brand, part of the Gucci Group. 
Lanvin is in talks to sell a stake to a Qatar-based investor in a deal that could value the French fashion house at around 150 million euros ($220 million), according to industry and financial sources close to the matter.
